Abstract:
This course draws from a wealth of European, particularly German, industrial case studies and research project outcomes to present students with the current state of Digital Twin technology in both academia and industry. We delve into the challenges it faces, as well as its future development trajectory. Notably, the course explores the standard solution for Digital Twin promoted by the German government to the International Electrotechnical Commission in the context of Industry 4.0, namely the Asset Administration Shell. In addition, the course elucidates the links between Digital Twin technology, simulation techniques, and artificial intelligence. This comprehensive overview serves as a launchpad to introduce promising future directions of this burgeoning field.
